Trump Could Make Visiting a National Park More Expensive than a Six Flags Ticket

2a) For how many and for how much is the trump administration planning on increasing the entrance cost to national parks? What does the national park service claim about the fee increase? How much money does the administration plan to cut from the 2018 budget from the parks?

The Trump administration plans to raise the price entrance of the national park to 50$ for motorcycles and 30$ for biking or walking. National park administration claims that this will help them repair old equipment and things that need to be fixed. The administration plans to cut 400 million dollars from the 2018 budget from parks.

2b) Do you think national parks should be affordable for everyone? Is it a good idea to raise the price? why or why not?

I think national parks should be affordable to everyone because it's a public monument for everyone to see. I think it's not a good idea to raise the price because it shouldn't be expensive to go to a public monument and you shouldn't have to pay money to see nature.

This is a map where most of the National Parks of the USA are shown.

2c) Many people voiced their opinions on this issue on Twitter. Select one tweet and write your reaction to their stance.

In the tweet by Steven Saus, he says national park are public monuments, This makes me think that the trump administration is wrong for charging people to go into national parks when it should be open for people to see nature and such beautiful views.

2d) What was the ideas that backed the romanticism movement? How do you think the authors and poets of the movements would feel about Americans possibly having limited access to national park's today.

The ideas that backed the romanticism movement was great interest in nature, and emphasis on individual expression, and a rejection of many established rules. I think that the authors and poets will feel very angry at this situation. These authors and poets loved nature very much, and the fact that they would have to pay to see isnt really fair. I believe that they would have protested if they were still around today.

  1. Hello Jason,
I understand that, of course if those authors and poets were still around today, they would definitely take action. But why just have them start a protest, can't another person/group of people start something and have their voices heard. I believe though, a protest may be seen as a good idea, but the people aren't going to be listened to. (This link has to do with president Trump, Congress, and Gun Control. Sometimes protests may be heard but they could also me misunderstood/taken in some other way; https://www.vox.com/policy-and-politics/2018/3/8/17081154/gun-control-debate-congress-republicans)

  2. Hi Jason,
I agree with your response to the second question. Something that the earth, we live on, shouldn't have a price value and be raised to add on top of that. Nature is being damaged whether we like it or not and there isn't much we can do, raising the price won't attract more people if thats the case.

  3. Hello Jason,
I completely agree with you when you stated that you think national parks should be affordable for everyone. I think that you provided good reasoning to support your belief. Honestly, not only should a national park be affordable for everyone to see because it is a public monument for everyone, but national parks provide a calming and realizing experience. The fact that our government is taking that away from many people shows a lot of how they only care about the money. In the link, it explains why national parks benefit human life; https://npansw.org/what-we-do/why-are-national-parks-important/

  4. Hi Jason,
In question 2b, I agree with you saying that national parks should be affordable for everyone because the whole reason for a national park is so everyone can see nature, not just everyone with the money to see it. They're called public monuments for a reason, meaning that the public should be able to have access to it, not just the 1%. Here's a link to a NY Times article about their opinion on the prices of these parks.

  6. hey Jason,
I truly disagree with the action that Trump is trying to do, I just don't think he is only trying to use the money for the "National Parks" and to make them better, he is taking these funds away so he can build the wall because he needs about 2.6 billions of dollars in order to build the wall and 1.4 billion for school choices.

  7. Hi Jason,
I agree with the way with the fact that you state that we shouldn't pay to go see nature,
back in 2011 prices weren't that high, plus going to national parks is wa way of bonding more with your family, no one wants that to stop. prices use to be like 7-8 dollars per car etc, now they are mad high for no reason.

  8. Hello Jason,
I completely agree with you in the stance that national parks are something all Americans and tourists should be able to enjoy without worrying about a fee. Like it was stated in the tweet, national parks are a monument to Americans and they aren't some sort of amusement park that needs money to pay for electricity for rollercoasters. Donald Trump is looking for ways to get more money for his upcoming plans. For more on this, visit this site:
